Race History Altenmarkt/Zauchensee

Early the top ski sports had discovered the slopes in Altenmarkt / Zauchensee for themselves: with lot of snow, cool descents and excellent infrastructure here provided ideal conditions for alpine competitions. The first World Cup race was held in 1980, the previous high point was the host of the FIS World Cup finals in 2002, together with the neighboring village of Flachau.

Thanks to its altitude Zauchensee offers national and international ski teams the best training conditions. Due to the implementation of numerous European Cup and FIS races Zauchensee is also considered "talent factory" for young skiers.

For the 50th anniversary of the lift company Zauchensee you find a video with interesting images of the racing history Zauchensee. Check it out and look back at the fascinating world of ski history in Zauchensee.
